In this article, I'm going to cover the topic of Aerosilver. Aerosilver is an antimicrobial fiber developed by a company called “Hyosung,” and is the first Korean yarn maker to acquire the SF mark granted by FITI. The achievement of this SF mark certification is due to the amazing advantages of this fiber.
First, Aerosilver is a functional polyester yarn that contains silver ions (Ag+) in yarns to impart antibacterial functions, and has antibacterial properties to Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, pneumococcus, and E. coli.
And this fiber has 'Aerocool' functionality which means that it absorbs and discharges sweat quickly by forming capillaries between the fibers and silver (Ag) component. It is a new concept anti-bacterial yarn that combines the Magic Silver function, which removes harmful bacteria and even the smell of sweat. So, when you wear clothing made of aero silver, it always gives a pleasant feeling.
This fiber also has a far-infrared emission function, which promotes blood circulation and functions as a sunscreen, so it is a general-purpose healthcare fiber that can be used from sportswear to innerwear.
Aerosilver is also excellent in persistence. In the case of a post-treatment antibacterial fabric made by coating antibacterial material on the finished product fiber, the functionality is reduced after washing and is not good for the skin, but Aerosilver uses silver ions for the yarn itself, so it has a longer functionality even after washing. And since Aerosilver uses silver ions and not silver itself it also doesn’t have the limitation of color. In addition, this new fiber has no direct contact with the skin, so it can be used for various purposes such as underwear, socks, stockings, mountaineering, sports clothes, beddings, hospital clothes, and inner skin of shoes and bags.
Masks made with this fabric are good for an extended periods time in the hot summer. I use a layer of anti-splash fabric in this mask, but it doesn't smell, dries quickly, and so it’s a comfortable mask for the summer.
